On this cold and rainy day in Zwelihle, community members are participating in the hackathon entitled "Re-imagine your community." We are excited to see the results!
A meeting with a local NGO called Reconstruction and Development Program was held at their premises on the 30th of March, 2021. The NGO shares the premises with a number of other projects that share the same vision. One of the projects that exists in this cluster includes an NGO called Reclaiming of Fathers and Sons, which is headed by Dr Ayanda, who is a psychologist by profession. Dr Ayanda was born in Zwelihle and he went on to study in the United Kingdom. He later returned to the community to offer consultation services to the Fathers and Sons in the community. The NGO headed by doctor Ayanda tries to deal with the various issues that affect the men in the community.
The cluster has a vegetable garden which is serviced and run by the community. The food grown in the vegetable garden is later used to supply the soup kitchen with ingredients. The NGO called Sharp Digital and Overstrand offers digital awareness to the community.
